The artist is fascinated by growing up and femininity. The composition of her works is frequently based on the fusion of visual and text layers. Bertolucci’s film The Dreamers from 2003 inspired the paintings. It tells the story of a love triangle – a liaison between a couple of French siblings and an American student, against the backdrop of student protest and riots in Paris in 1968. The film depicts a group of young pretentious protagonists, who simulate revolution, while there main preoccupation is their own sexual liberation rather than the momentous events around them. From the film, Agata Kus has selected two frames. As an ironic commentary on the storyline, she has woven into the painting a quotation from a song by the group T-Rex.
