The work was produced for the artist’s individual exhibition in the Potocka Gallery in 1996. It consists of two images superimposed one on the other – the floor of the gallery being washed with a mop and a walk around Krakow. In this way the artist obtained a single view of the gallery space and its local surroundings. The work was inspired by a film which showed a woman sweeping Red Square in Moscow with a birch broom. This was a symbol of the Soviet purges.
