‘Bursting with tips on what pieces will be the collectibles of tomorrow, how to take care of them and how to track them down’ – The Daily Telegraph

Here is expert advice by leading specialists with many years’ experience in the auction market and a vast knowledge of the subject.

• Price guide to cover all collecting budgets
• Compact, handy format with beautiful colour illustrations
• Invaluable information about materials and techniques
• How to take care of precious pieces, storage and display
• In-depth profiles of established and emerging contemporary artists worldwide, including biographies, exhibitions and awards
• Galleries, museums and dealers across the world
• Fairs, events and schools

Collect Contemporary Jewelry steers the novice through the whole process of acquiring contemporary jewelry, from studying the works of different designers and the materials they use, through commissioning jewellers, to storing and cleaning pieces.

Forty jewelry artists, both established and emerging, are profiled in detail, with information on their background and training, materials and techniques, and sources of inspiration. Truly international, these artists are the names to watch; they create both the concept and the finished piece, getting involved in all aspects of the creative process and treating jewelry as ‘wearable art’, sharing a commitment to craftsmanship and high-quality material.

Joanna Hardy is an independent jewelry consultant. She trained as a goldsmith and jewelry designer before working at De Beers, where she valued and graded rough diamonds. As a polished-diamond dealer she worked in Antwerp, Tel Aviv and Mumbai, and later she joined Phillips Auctioneers. For many years she was a senior specialist in the jewelry department at Sotheby’s, London, valuing jewelry for sale in New York, Geneva and London. She lectures widely and features on the popular BBC programme Antiques Roadshow.
